Watch this Masshole Get Decked

May 4, 2011

Some drunk dude ran on the field at Fenway earlier this week and got absolutely destroyed by a security guard.

Tedy Bruschi would be proud. Rodney Harrison would wonder why the guy didn’t aim for the drunk’s head. And Tom Brady is still waiting for the flag to be thrown.

Ok, enough Patriots jokes.

I’m all for watching Red Sox fans get splattered on the turf. Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure if a Sox fan ran on the field at Camden Yards, while wearing an “Orioles Suck” shirt, and walked up to Adam Jones and kicked him square in the athletic supporter, OPACY security would still simply ask the man nicely to return to his seat.

Such is the way we pander to the Sox and Yanks fans here in 2011.

Michael Oher "Blind Sides" Todd McShay

May 4, 2011

When I saw Michael Oher going off on twitter yesterday about character issues, I assumed it was in a general defense of new teammate Jimmy Smith.  However, I was mistaken.  Oher was actually aiming his tweets directly at ESPN’s Todd McShay, and not for his criticisms of Smith this year, but for his comments about Oher’s own “character issues” back in 2009.

Here are Oher’s tweets, summarized by the National Football Post’s Aaron Wilson:

“What is Character issues?!?” Oher wrote on his Twitter account in a rare rant from him. “Somebody tell me? I never got in trouble with the Law . . . yes sir no sir guy . . . But this Todd Mcshay guy acts if he knows ppl on a personal level get real!” What if someone was to talk about your son . . . and he had character issues!!

“Thats how my family felt. You need to meet ppl first and then judge them not go off what you hear!! . . .@McShay13 tell me what are character issues because I dont know… you said I had them and you never met me?! And I respect Mel Kiper way more then I respect you…your a joke!!”

Boom, roasted.

McShay has yet to respond, but what can he really say?  Suggesting that Oher, of all people, had character issues is quite a joke.  Oher reportedly dropped in the 2009 draft due to questions about his intelligence and ability to pick up an NFL playbook.  Maybe “character issues” was McShay’s nice way of saying “dumb?”

Regardless, Oher has proven himself to be neither dumb nor of poor character during his time in Baltimore (though his abilities to listen – specifically to the snap count – leave a bit to be desired.)

If you have any questions about Michael Oher’s character, Todd Mcshay (or anybody else), I urge you to take a look at our review of his book “I Beat the Odds,” and maybe pick up a copy for yourself.

Buck Showalter Hates Glee

April 22, 2011

Buck was none too pleased with Wednesday night’s National Anthem performance at the Yard:

Something tells me he probably has a similar reaction when Nick Markakis is at the plate these days.

A buddy of mine posted this screencap  from last night’s Yanks-O’s debacle on Facebook.  It’s glorious.

BUCK YEAH! Showalter Rips Jeter, Theo Epstein

March 23, 2011

As if he hadn’t already done enough to win over the fans of Charm City, Buck Showalter may have just cemented himself as the City’s new favorite all-around person.

According to The Bergen Record, the Buck truck had some pretty great things to say about New York Yankees’ captain Derek Jeter and Boston Red Sox GM Theo Epstein in the April issue of Men’s Journal magazine:

In an interview in the April edition of Men’s Journal, Showalter lashed out at Yankees captain Derek Jeter as well as Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein, according to a report in the Bergen (N.J.) Record.

“The first time we went to Yankee Stadium, I screamed at Derek Jeter from the dugout,” Showalter said in Men’s Journal, according to the Bergen Record. “Our guys are thinking, ‘Wow, he’s screaming at Derek Jeter.’ Well, he’s always jumping back from balls just off the plate. I know how many calls that team gets — and yes, he [ticks] me off.”

Speaking about the Red Sox, Showalter mocked the notion that Epstein’s biggest offseason acquisitions — namely, left fielder Carl Crawford and first baseman Adrian Gonzalez — were indicative of the Red Sox GM’s savvy.

“I’d like to see how smart Theo Epstein is with the Tampa Bay [Rays] payroll,” Showalter told Men’s Journal, according to the Record. “You got Carl Crawford ’cause you paid more than anyone else, and that’s what makes you smarter? That’s why I like whipping their butt. It’s great, knowing those guys with the $205 million payroll are saying, ‘How the hell are they beating us?'”

How’s that for subtle?

After sitting through boring John Harbaugh “we really respect the Pittsburgh Steelers” press conference after boring John Harbaugh “[opponent of the week] is a heckuva football team” press conference during the NFL season, it looks like Baltimore may have had our own version of Rex Ryan all along – just on the baseball team instead of the football team.

Does Buck have much room to talk at this point? Probably not. But if he wants to antagonize the Yankees, Red Sox, and their legions of annoying ass fans, we’re more than happy to hear it.

It will be even better when Buck and his team go out there and back it up this season.

February 8, 2011

Well, Goob and I are finally back in Raleigh and B’More, respectively after the most incredible weekend of our lives.  We’ll have (at least) three videos chronicling our time in Dallas and Arlington at Super Bowl XLV. We’ll start in reverse chronological order, with Sunday and the game itself.  Goob and I wandered the Jerry World parking lots in search of Packers fans to befriend and Steelers fans to heckle, then proceeded inside to watch the Steelers choke away the biggest game of the year.  Damn good times.  Enjoy:

Did we have a good day Sunday?  You tell me…

More on the way…

Steelers Fan Faceplant

January 14, 2011

Just saw this on Deadspin.

Sure, the guy in the video can only be definitively identified as a Pittsburgh PENGUINS fan…but all Penguins fans are also Steelers fans, right?

This is a safe assumption, I believe.

And hell “Baltimore’s” hockey team, the Washington Capitals, have already won at Heinz Field in 2011, having won the “Winter Classic” on New Years Day. Let’s hope our football team follows suit.

Goob's Steelers Hate Week III Video

January 12, 2011

Even after already having graced us with three hate-filled Steelers videos already this season, Goob Theoharris still has plenty of vitriol left for Round 3 between these two heavyweights.

From Terry Bradshaw and Merrill Hoge to “displaced” Steelers fans and Big Ben’s so-called “engagement,” our resident Woody Harrelson lookalike is hitting on all cylinders this time around.

Tosh.0 and Antoine Dodson Rip on Ben Rapeyberger

January 12, 2011

On last night’s “Tosh.0” on Comedy Central, Daniel Tosh had Antoine Dodson (the “they rapin’ errybody” guy) on for his “web redemption” segment.

In the clip – which is filled with rapey innuendo and intended for mature audiences – Tosh and Dodson get a nice dig in on Squealers’ quarterback “Pig” Ben Roethlisberger.

The whole clip is pretty hilarious (as long as tasteless humor is your thing – if you’re here, it probably is), but the Ben appearance is at about 4:40 if you want to skip to it.
