Penn Traded

Updating a previous post:  One of the answers to our question: “Not Hayden Penn. “

The Sun is reporting that Penn has been traded to the Florida Marlins.

He was out of options, and his awful spring pretty much closed the door on his time in B’More.

Given an opportunity to make the Orioles’ Opening Day roster this spring, Penn went 0-3 with a 10.05 ERA, allowing 27 hits and walking six in 17 innings.

Penn seems like a good enough guy, and the amount of bad luck he endured over the past few years would be enough to make just about anybody question their chosen line of work.  We wish him all the best.

In return, the O’s got utility infielder Robert Andino.  Sun beat writer Jeff Zrebiec speculates that the 24-year old Andino will supplant Chris Gomez on the opening day roster.
